The objective of “regeneration” tertiary treatment is to improve WTP’s effluent quality for use afterwards. Within these treatments, filtration is usually followed by disinfection.

Most commonly used filters are:

• Bed filters (through pressure and gravity)
• disc filters
• continuous cleaning filters
• screen filters. Effluent filtering is disinfected through ultraviolet rays
• chlorination and ozonization.

There are numerous combinations of these technologies and, in each case, the most appropriate one is selected to be reused according to the effluent’s quality.
